This work aimed to study the deformation characteristics and microstructure of AA6063 aluminum alloy component with complex shape manufactured by cold orbital forming processing. The material flowing behavior was analyzed Finite Element (FE) simulation experiments were carried out using bar blank different lengths. boss zone cut from formed samples observed scanning electron microscopy (SEM) back-scatter diffraction (EBSD). FE experiment results both showed base can be process. distributions effective strain lengths almost same, bigger at flash as finished. flow is complex, especially in boss, folding defect root boss. distribution Mg2Si strengthening precipitate more homogeneous matrix, has a shape, shows directivity position zone. grains are elongated, extent positions after forming, crystal orientation discrepancy smaller main body Subsequent process optimization need further researched improve quality.
